Diethylcarbamazine (also called DEC) is an investigational drug used to treat certain parasite infections that may be acquired while traveling in the tropics. It is very specific for several parasitic filarial worms. Diethylcarbamazine is not dispensed in a pharmacy. Your doctor will have to obtain it for you from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).
