What is ceftizoxime?

Ceftizoxime is no longer available in the United States.

Ceftizoxime is a generic prescription antibiotic injection used to treat bacterial infections. It kills bacteria by destroying their cell walls. Ceftizoxime is injected into a muscle by a doctor or added to an IV drip. It is also available under the brand name Cefizox, but it is currently not available in the United States. If you are suffering from a bacterial infection, your doctor will be able to tell you if ceftizoxime is the right antibiotic for you.
