What is Bacteriostatic Water?

Bacteriostatic Water is water that has undergone a special process to make it sterile. It also contains approximately 0.9% benzyl alcohol as a preservative. This differs from sterile water, which may have the same purpose but contains no preservatives or added buffer. Even though it is not technically a drug, most pharmacies will not sell it without a prescription.
