What is Bacteriostatic NaCl?

Bacteriostatic NaCl is also called Bacteriostatic Saline. The multiple-dose plastic vial may only be obtained with a prescription. The preparation is used for diluting or dissolving drugs that must be administered either intravenously, subcutaneously or intramuscularly, depending on the directions from the drug manufacturer. Approximately 0.9% benzyl alcohol is added to serve as a preservative. The container is meant for multiple uses, so repeated withdrawals for dilution of the drugs needed for injection can be made.
