Aminoglutethimide is no longer available in the United States.

Aminoglutethimide is an anti-hormone medication used to treat Cushing's syndrome in certain people. It works by helping to prevent the overproduction of certain hormones by the adrenal glands. High levels of hormones like glucocorticoids, mineralocorticoids, estrogens, and androgens are one cause of Cushing's syndrome. Aminoglutethimide is only available by prescription and initial doses are given by a trained healthcare professional. Certain lab tests are often needed while using aminoglutethimide to monitor blood cell counts, electrolyte levels, liver function, and thyroid health.
