What should I avoid while taking Jakafi?

While you're taking Jakafi, (ruxolitinib), a drug prescribed to treat the bone marrow disorder myelofibrosis, avoid grapefruit and grapefruit juice. Both can affect the levels of the drug in your blood so that it doesn't work as well.

You should also avoid getting pregnant while on this medication, as experts don't know whether or not it can harm a developing fetus. The same holds true for breastfeeding: It isn't known if Jakafi passes into breast milk and, if it does, how it might affect a nursing baby, so you may need to avoid breastfeeding while taking Jakafi.
