What are the different types of ligands?

There are three different kinds of ligands or chemical messenger molecules. They are:
  • neuropeptides (enkephalin, CCK and VIP)
  • neurotransmitters (serotonin and norepinephrine)
  • steroids (cortisol, testosterone and estrogen)
