Most side effects for water for injection depend on the body's reaction to the type of medicine dissolved in the water. However, some people who receive any sort of intravenous injection experience swelling, redness (inflammation), or infection at the site of injection. This may cause feverish symptoms, such as sore throat, chills, or flushing of the face. To avoid infection at the injection site, make sure to sterilize all your equipment before using it. This means sterilizing the needle, your hands, and the site of injection.
