How can I minimize the side effects of Yervoy?

You can minimize the side effects of the melanoma drug Yervoy (ipilimumab) by contacting your healthcare provider immediately if you develop any symptoms, such as:
  • Diarrhea, loose stools and/or stomach pain
  • Yellowing of the skin or eyes, tea-colored urine, nausea or vomiting, bleeding easily and/or pain on the right side
  • Rashes, peeling or blistering and/or mouth sores
  • Weakness, tingling or numbness
  • Blurring or double vision and/or eye redness or pain
  • Headaches, tiredness, dizziness, weight gain and/or changes in your mood or thinking
To prevent the problem from becoming dangerous, you may need to take a high dose of steroids. Before each dose of Yervoy, your doctor will run tests on your liver, thyroid and other systems to ensure your safety.
