How can I minimize the side effects of Prepopik?

You can minimize the side effects of Prepopik (sodium picosulfate, magnesium oxide and citric acid), a pre-colonoscopy laxative, by taking it exactly as your doctor prescribes.

Before you take Prepopik, tell your doctor about all your other medications (prescription and over-the-counter), supplements or herbal products. Certain medical conditions may increase your risk for side effects from Prepopik, so you should also give your doctor a complete medical history.

To avoid dehydration, be sure to drink plenty of clear liquids after finishing this medication. Examples include water, clear broth, apple juice, white cranberry juice, white grape juice and ginger ale.

If the first dose of Prepopik causes severe bloating, distension or abdominal pain, delay the second dose until you feel better.
