To understand how Jakafi (ruxolitinib) works, you first need to understand what myelofibrosis is. In this condition, bone marrow is replaced by scar tissue, and blood cell production declines. Jakafi treats myelofibrosis by blocking the enzyme that causes the scar tissue to form in bone marrow. This will lead to relief of symptoms such as muscle and bone pain, fatigue and night sweats.
