How effective is Vascepa?

Vascepa (icosapent ethyl), a prescription fish oil treatment for high triglycerides, may lower blood fats substantially. In one study, people who had a starting triglyceride level of 680 milligrams/deciliter (mg/dL) and took four grams of Vascepa a day experienced about a 27% reduction in the blood fats. Vascepa helps lower triglycerides without increasing low-density lipoproteins (LDL, or ''bad'' cholesterol), research suggests.

Vascepa is used in conjunction with a healthy diet and exercise.
