Is there a generic form of water for injection?

Various companies supply generic water for injection and refer to it as Sterile Water for Injection, USP. The USP designation indicates that the product meets the health standards of the United States Pharmacopeia. As the standard type of water used to prepare intravenous injections, water for injection is specially purified by reverse osmosis or distillation. This ensures that it meets the U.S. Food and Drug Administration's (FDA) safety standards. Water for injection is only sold in a prescription form.
