What is Codeine Phosphate and promethazine HCL?

Codeine Phosphate and promethazine HCL, also known as Promethazine HCl and Codeine Phosphate, is an antihistamine combined with a narcotic analgesic. Although once sold under the brand name Phenergan with Codeine, it is no longer available in the United States. Codeine Phosphate-Promethazine HCl is used to treat coughs and cold and allergy symptoms. The Codeine helps to suppress the cough and relieve pain while the promethazine dries secretions and reduces swelling and itching in the eyes, nose, and throat.
