If you are pregnant or want to become pregnant, talk with your doctor about whether you can take Linzess (linaclotide), a prescription medication used for adults with irritable bowel syndrome with constipation (IBS-C) or chronic idiopathic constipation (CIC) -- chronic constipation that has no clear cause. It isn't yet clear whether Linzess will harm a developing fetus. In studies with animals, problems were noted only when very high doses were given, but experts say pregnant women should use this drug only if its benefit justifies its potential risk.
