Can peritoneal diseases have any complications?

Peritoneal diseases can have a variety of complications. Because each disease is different, the complications associated with each disease are also different. For example, serious complications associated with typhoid fever include intestinal bleeding or intestinal holes (perforations) that allow for intestinal fluids to leak into your body. Less immediately serious complications of this disease include spinal infections and pneumonia. If peritonitis, another peritoneal disease, is left untreated, this disease can also have some serious complications. Complications of peritonitis include bloodstream infections and sepsis, a deadly infection that attacks all of a person's organs.
