Peritoneal mesothelioma, a rare cancer of the abdomen, is a particularly aggressive disease that generally is not discovered until it is extremely advanced. Known as the "silent killer" for many years, ovarian cancer is another peritoneal disease that can be life threatening. However, there is a much higher chance of survival if this cancer is detected early on.
