Will amoxicillin treat ear or sinus infections?

Amoxicillin is used for certain bacterial infections. Some of the most common uses of this prescription medication are for bacterial infections of the ears, nose or throat. Your doctor can determine if you or your child has a sinus or ear infection for treatment. Amoxicillin will not work for colds because a cold or the flu is caused by a virus, not bacteria. Talk to your doctor about your symptoms and possible treatment solutions.
