What kinds of infections can ampicillin treat?

Ampicillin can treat serious infections such as meningitis,  pneumonia or gastrointestinal and urinary tract infections. Serious infections of the blood or heart valve can be successfully treated with ampicillin. Other infections such as skin, bone or joint infections can also benefit from ampicillin.
