What is piperacillin sodium?

Piperacillin is a prescription antibiotic in the penicillin family that treats a variety of bacterial infections. Piperacillin will not treat viral infections, but may be used for other purposes or in combination with other medications. Piperacillin  comes in the form of a solution that is injected either into your muscle or vein by a medical professional.
