How does ticarcillin and clavulanate interact with other drugs and food?

Ticarcillin and clavulanate may interact with other medications, supplements and foods. You should provide your doctor with a complete list of all medications and supplements you take, including over-the-counter and prescription medications, vitamins, herbs and mineral supplements. Be sure to tell your doctor if you take any of the following medications: aminoglycosides, anticoagulants, heparin, methotrexate, oral contraceptives, probenecid or tetracyclines. Ticarcillin and clavulanate may interfere with the effectiveness of oral contraceptives. Be sure to use an alternative form of reliable birth control while taking ticarcillin and clavulanate to prevent pregnancy.
