Who should not receive piperacillin?

You should not receive piperacillin if you are allergic to penicillin or cephalosporin or if you have a history of food allergies. Before beginning treatment with piperacillin, tell your doctor if you are on a salt-restricted diet or have kidney function problems. Do not receive piperacillin if you have a viral infection. Talk with your doctor about the possible risks of taking piperacillin while pregnant or breastfeeding.
