Who should not use amoxicillin extended-release tablets?

People who are allergic to amoxicillin, penicillins or any ingredient in this medication, should not use it. People who do not have bacterial infections should not use this medication to treat their illness; it does not treat viral infections. People with mononucleosis or kidney disease may not be able to take amoxicillin extended-release tablets. Although amoxicillin is considered generally safe, pregnant and breastfeeding women should check with their doctors to see if this medication is safe specifically for them.
