The oblique abdominal muscles consist of the external and internal oblique abdominal muscles (trunk muscles that help to rotate and flex the spine and pelvis) responsible for rotation and flexion of the spine. Developing oblique abdominal muscle strength is important for spinal stabilization against movement faults.
