Adolescence and young adulthood is a time for experimentation and growth, so it's not surprising that young people are more apt to sample psychoactive substances and activities. Older people, though less prone to addiction than younger adults, are more likely to have problems with pharmaceutical drugs and alcohol than with illicit drugs.
