It's a fact that 75 percent of America's teens have cell phones and primarily use them to send text messages, update their social networking sites, and take pictures.

According to the 2010 mobile access study completed by Pew Research Center, cell phones are not just used for calling or texting anymore. Phones have become MP3 players, cameras, video recording devices, and pocket-sized social networking devices.

According to Pew Research Center's study, teens with smart phones are avid users of their extra features:
  • 87 percent text message regularly
  • 83 percent use their phones to take pictures
  • 64 percent share pictures with others
  • 60 percent play music on their phones
  • 46 percent play games on their phones
  • 32 percent exchange videos on their phones
  • 31 percent exchange instant messages on their phones
  • 27 percent go online on their phones
  • 21 percent use e-mail on their phones
