What are the treatment options for scabies?

Several treatment options are available for scabies. A common cure is a cream that contains 5 percent permethrin. The cream is applied on the skin before bedtime, left overnight, and then washed off. Lindane, available as a cream, shampoo, and lotion, is another option. Crotamiton cream and ivermectin taken orally are other options. Some dermatologists may recommend a sulfur ointment or a benzyl benzoate lotion.
