What are the symptoms of the parasitic skin infection lice?

Lice is one type of parasitic skin infection and its symptoms include severe itching and small, red bumps on the surface of the skin. Caused by tiny insects that live on blood, head lice infest the scalp, body lice live on bedding and clothing and only live on people to feed, and pubic lice live in the skin and hair of the pubic area. Adult lice lay eggs, called nits, which can be mistaken for dandruff. Lice is itchy and uncomfortable and can lead to a secondary infection if scratching breaks the skin.
