What is scabies?

Scabies is an infestation of tiny mites that causes intense itching, particularly at night, and produces small red bumps. The mite that causes it is Sarcoptes scabiei. Its eggs hatch in the topmost skin layer. Scabies is very contagious but can be eliminated completely.

Scabies is a skin condition that causes an extremely itchy, linear rash usually found around the wrist and hands. It is caused by irritation from a tiny mite that actually burrows under the skin.
