Is there a cure for scabies?

Scabies can be cured completely. Treatment includes use of chemicals such as permethrin (5 percent), lindane, crotamiton, and ivermectin, used in anti-scabies medications available by prescription only. However, intense itching, which is the main symptom of scabies, might persist for weeks after the mites have been eliminated successfully. The itching can be treated with oral antihistamines and over-the-counter corticosteroid cream.
