Is pancreatic cancer a common type of cancer?

Pancreatic cancer is not a common type of cancer, compared to breast, lung, colon, prostate, and other more common cancers. These cancers occur in hundreds of thousands of individuals in the United States. In contrast, each year only about 37,000 people are diagnosed with adenocarcinoma, the type of cancer accounting for 95 percent of pancreatic cancers.
