What is the prognosis for arachnoiditis?

Arachnoiditis appears to be a disorder that causes chronic pain and neurological deficits and does not improve significantly with treatment. Surgery too may only provide temporary relief. Aging and pre-existing spinal disorders can make an accurate prognosis problematic. The outlook is further complicated by the fact that the disorder has no predictable pattern or severity of symptoms.

This answer is based on source information from the National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke.
