How does the bladder wall muscle affect urination?

For healthy urination, certain muscles need to work properly. The detrusor muscle provides crucial strength and stability for the bladder wall. The sphincter muscle controls the flow of urine as it leaves the body. When you empty your bladder, your detrusor muscle contracts while your sphincter muscle relaxes. These muscles force urine to leave your bladder.
