Does the amount of liquids I drink affect overactive bladder?

How much you drink may affect your overactive bladder. The more you drink, the more often you need to go to the bathroom. You may need to reduce the amount of liquids you drink. But is important to first discuss this with your doctor. Limiting the amount of liquids you drink can also cause problems. Smaller amounts of urine can irritate the bladder’s surface. This urine also becomes more concentrated. That means it can actually make you urinate more often. Less urine may also encourage bacterial growth and infections. This can cause symptoms of overactive bladder as well.
