Donna Hill Howes, RN
Family Medicine
Studies suggest that overactive bladder may be treated by acupuncture. A type of traditional Chinese medicine, acupuncture involves the use of extremely thin, disposable needles that are placed in the skin surface. Acupuncture treatments are typically given once or twice a week, for 10 to 12 sessions. Successful treatment may lead to:

- Improvements in the ability to hold urine
- Decreases in the number of nighttime urination
- Decreased urgency
- Smoother flow of urine
