Ovarian germ cell tumors form when germ cells in the ovary become abnormal and begin to grow and divide too quickly. Normally, ovarian germ cells develop into eggs. Teratomas, dysgerminomas, yolk sac tumors, embryonal carcinoma, and choriocarcinoma are examples of germ cell tumors.
