How do I use ciprofloxacin-hydrocortisone ear drops?

Ciprofloxacin-hydrocortisone, or Cipro HC, eardrops are usually used twice daily (every 12 hours). It should be used exactly as directed by your doctor and pharmacist. Here are some general steps they may describe:

  • Shake the bottle before using.
  • Lie down on your back, then turn your head with the infected ear turned toward the ceiling. 
  • Be careful to not touch the tip with any part of your body (fingers, ear, hair).
  • Squeeze the drops into your ear, exactly as many as your doctor says.
  • Stay in that position for one minute.
  • If your other ear is infected, repeat these steps.
