What is the difference between osteopathic doctors and chiropractors?

Doctors of osteopathic medicine (D.O.'s) are physicians licensed to do everything that M.D.'s do, but they also learn spinal manipulation (though some D.O.'s choose not to incorporate manipulation into their practice). Doctors of Chiropractic (D.C.'s) are trained at four-year chiropractic colleges. Some chiropractors restrict their practice to spinal adjustments, while others expand their practices to include other therapies. Chiropractors are licensed in every state of the U.S., and insurance generally covers chiropractic care. Both osteopathic physicians and chiropractors use spinal adjustment to try to optimize the body's functioning.
