What types of exercise can cause osteoarthritis?

High-impact exercise or sports that puts a lot of stress on your joints, such as long-distance running, can increase your risk of osteoarthritis. One study found that high-impact exercise three times a week or more may increase the risk of arthritis, while low-impact exercise appears to protect against it. Joint injuries from strenuos exercise such as running, football, soccer, or skiing may also lead to osteoarthritis later on.
