What should I tell my orthodontist prior to getting clear braces?

Before getting clear braces (ceramic or plastic brackets or clear plastic aligners), you should tell your doctor if you are pregnant or planning to become pregnant. Pregnancy should not prevent you from getting braces, but it can cause changes in your teeth that your orthodontist should prepare for. You should tell your orthodontist about any health conditions you may have, such as diabetes and gum disease, which may affect your teeth. Tell your orthodontist about any medications you take as well as allergies to metal or latex.
