How can I reduce complications after getting metal braces?

You can reduce complications after getting metal braces with good oral care. Brush twice a day and floss daily to help prevent food and bacteria from getting trapped around your metal braces. Avoid sticky, chewy, or hard foods that can damage the metal brackets attached to the front of your teeth. Also, avoid sugary drinks and foods that can damage your tooth enamel. See your orthodontist as scheduled.
