How long do I need to wear metal braces?

Metal braces are usually worn for 1-3 years. Each case depends on your individual assessment and how severe your dental issues are. You may have an irregular bite, gaps between teeth, crooked teeth, or irregular alignment of teeth and lips. Metal braces apply pressure to teeth, moving them into a better position or proper alignment.

In some cases, orthodontia may be scheduled in phases. For example, when a child is younger, their palate can be widened so that as their adult teeth come in, then there is more room for proper placement.
