How can I control my child's pain related to having clear braces?

You can control your child's pain from clear braces with medication. Your child may complain that their mouth hurts when ceramic or plastic brackets are first bonded to his teeth. You can give your child an age-appropriate over-the-counter pain reliever to help ease his discomfort. Rinse his mouth with warm salt water if the brackets or wires rub against the inside of his mouth. If your child continues to complain about pain, talk to his orthodontist about adjusting the clear braces.
