What is the process to receive an organ or tissue?

You must be evaluated by a medical team to ensure that you have the capacity to benefit from the transplant (new organ or tissue). Some patients are too sick to undergo the transplant surgery and thus are not suitable candidates. The medical team will evaluate patients to assess if a new organ or tissue would provide benefit, in light of the risks.
