Where can cold sores develop?

In most cases, an outbreak of oral herpes, or cold sores, will develop in the lip area. However, it is possible to get cold sores on your hands, chin, or nose, as well as in the mouth. In some cases, it is possible to get genital herpes from a cold sore.
