What activities can trigger a cold sore to develop?

There is no way to get rid of the oral herpes virus once you catch it. However, certain things can trigger a cold sore to develop. Stress, lack of sleep, and overexposure to the sun can cause an oral herpes outbreak.

When your body is stressed in one way or another, the virus that causes cold sores, herpes simplex, is more likely to flare up. Experiencing emotional stress, having your period, and injuring your mouth can also bring on cold sores.
