Almost all cold sores are the result of an infection caused by the herpes simplex virus and usually manifest or show up somewhere on the lips. One alternative remedy for keeping a sore at bay advises that the minute you begin to feel the sore starting to emerge (you’ll notice a tingling sensation in that spot) then you should lightly dab the spot with COLORLESS nail polish. The polish will peel off in short order but the ingredient lysine will continue to keep the sore from emerging. If the sore is already beginning to blossom then combine 1 tablespoon of apple cider vinegar with 4 tablespoons of organic (local, if possible) honey and dab this mixture on the sore morning, noon and night. It should disappear almost immediately.
