What are the side effects of Ak-Fluor?

Like most medications, Ak-Fluor (fluorescein) may cause certain side effects in some people. In rare cases, Ak-Fluor may cause a severe allergic reaction that leads to difficulty breathing, swelling in the face or throat, and hives. If these symptoms develop, get medical attention right away. Other serious side effects may include severe pain at the injection site, shock, cardiac arrest, and low blood pressure. More common side effects include mild pain or itching at the injection site, discoloration of the skin near the injection site, change in urine, headache, nausea, and vomiting. Other side effects may be possible, so talk to your doctor if any new or unusual symptoms develop after taking Ak-Fluor.
