What are possible side effects of polymyxin B?

Seek immediate medical attention by calling 911 if you experience an allergic reaction to polymyxin B, characterized by difficulty breathing, hives, rash, itching, tight chest or swelling of the mouth, tongue, lips or face.

Call your doctor right away if you experience severe side effects, including confusion, muscle weakness, headaches, blurred vision, breathing difficulties, balance problems, change in the amount of urine, change in hearing or ringing in the ears, drowsiness, flushing of the face, mental or mood change or irritability, stiff neck, tingling or numbness in the mouth, hands or feet or an unusually rapid heartbeat.

If polymyxin B is injected into a muscle, you may experience redness and pain at the point of injection. Using polymyxin B for a long period of time may lead to other infections.
