The most common adverse reactions include corneal clouding or edema after surgeries in which balanced salt solution is used for ocular irrigation. Persons with diabetes sometimes report intraocular lens changes after being treated with balanced salt solution during surgery. Irrigation and trauma to the corneal endothelium may result in inflammatory reactions, swelling and corneal decompensation. If you experience inflammation or swelling after eye surgery, contact your doctor immediately.
